President's Note

Dear KAIMH Members,

I want to thank you for the opportunity to serve as your KAIMH President. I look forward to representing the association and to supporting our members in meeting the mental health needs of infants, The board spent many hours this past year reviewing our strengths, our weaknesses, potential opportunities and potential risks to the association. This work resulted in an updated strategic plan with clear priorities for supporting and strengthening the association.

Three words come to mind that summarize our goals for the upcoming year…Connection, Communication, and Commitment.young children and their caregivers. It is an exciting time for KAIMH as we continue to grow and strengthen our dedication to supporting the mission of the association.

Connection - Strong, healthy relationships are central to infant mental health and we wish to mirror this philosophy within the association by getting to know you better. By gaining a clearer picture of your needs and strengthening our connection, we hope to better support you in your work.

Communication - Keeping you informed and increasing the awareness of KAIMH’s activities & programs is a priority. We recognize that we must be current in our use of technology in order to best reach all of you across Kansas. We now have a Facebook page and hope to soon be tweeting. Our website is in process of an update to make it user-friendly by helping you locate the information you need quickly and easily. You can also look forward to receiving regular newsletters from our Executive Director.

Commitment – We are committed to providing quality training, promoting professional growth and to keeping our membership informed about what is happening in the field both within our state and nationally. We are committed to providing a structure for building experiences and developing skills to support those working in the field of infant and early childhood mental health.

Thank you for your interest in the Kansas Association for Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health and for all you do in support of pregnant women, infants, young children and their families. It couldn’t be done without each of you!

Sincerely,

Suzanne Chapel-Miller, LSCSW, RPT, IMH-E® (IV)
